Job Title: Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
Job Reports To: Controller

 

Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for a variety of duties, including advanced-level financial record keeping, reconciliations, vendor relation management, schedules, transactions, and monthly invoicing. Must be a people person, with great communication skills, passionate about positively impacting lives, accounting, and solving problems.

 

Qualification Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience is preferred
  • ERP systems experience
  • Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of US GAAP
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger and statutory accounting
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • The position is an onsite only position located in Salt Lake City, Utah

 

Specific Skills / Competencies Desired

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and take on difficult tasks with a high level of accuracy and efficiency
  • Superior attention to detail with a high sense of urgency
  • Financial record keeping experience which may have involved using automated financial management systems such as QuickBooks to use and maintain double-entry accounting systems a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Classifies a wide variety of receipts and expenditures
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and tax returns for accuracy and legal compliance
  • Creates and maintains schedules of various balance sheet accounts
  • Provide support for annual financial statement audits, as well as periodic internal audits
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Journal Entries and account reconciliations for payroll, job costing, and beginning balances
  • Reviews and checks a wide variety of complex account keeping records and reports
  • Reconciles bank and credit card statements
  • Computes payments to invoices within the system to account for customer receivables correctly
  • Uses computer applications such as Google sheets, Outlook Calendar, Slack and database software in performing work assignments
  • Maintain relationships with vendors
  • Efficient filling of reconciled records
  • Other duties as assigned
