As a DevOps Engineer at iPLATO you will be working as part of a team responsible for the ongoing monitoring, scaling, deployment and health of our production platform.

We are in the late stage of migrating our platform from traditional hosting environment to AWS and you will be in a pivotal role in ensuring this transition is carried out without incident. You will be expected to design and develop automation templates/tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration & change management to facilitate this migration.

Your mission

• Ensuring the performance, availability, security and continuity of infrastructure across all iPLATO environments 24x7x365.
• Focus on proactive monitoring and catching issues early
• Learn about new technologies and related tools to introduce to the company in order to grow the agile development environment
• Work with developers to make sure new environments meet requirements and conform to best practices.
• Research and architect solutions to solve security and compliance requirements
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues
• Participate in maintenance windows and on-call rota outside office hours.

From day one in this role, we’ll expect you to have knowledge in at least half of this list:

• Building and maintaining production systems on AWS using EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Route53, ElasticSearch, CloudFront, API Gateway, Direct Connect
• Linux (preferably Ubuntu/Debian) administration
• Source code control (GitHub or GitLab)
• Automated build and deployments using Jenkins / GitLab CI
• Containers and Kubernetes
• Cloud services and automation tools Ansible, Terraform
• Solid scripting skills in one or more of: Python, Bash, PHP
• Good networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, Firewalls, DNS)
• Securing and hardening SaaS, Linux, AWS
• Familiarity with databases and proficiency in MySQL/Mariadb, AWS Redshift
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• Excellent remote collaboration skills, rapid multi-channel text, voice and video communication and multitasking
