PhD Position at the Intersection of Neurology, Data Science, and Neuroimaging
100%, Zurich, fixed-term
The topic of this PhD project concerns an important question in neurology, i.e. whether individual responses to treatment of low back pain can be predicted. Specifically, using data science and machine learning, the project aims to identify clinical and imaging biomarkers that are predictive of treatment response to injection therapy against low back pain. The project capitalises on large biomedical datasets that are being collected at the Department of Neurology at Schulthess Clinic Zurich and benefits from the close collaboration of PIs from data science (Prof. Catherine Jutzeler), neuroimaging (Prof. Ender Konukoglu), and neurology (Dr Zina-Mary Manjaly). The project involves establishing a database system and deploying cutting-edge analysis techniques for establishing individual predictors from clinical, imaging, and movement data.
The tentative starting date is October 2022 or later. Applications are accepted until the position is filled.
