Prototype Build Technician

The machine shop is responsible for supporting the entire company from machining high-precision Robot prototype parts, to small batch runs for the Implant team, and also providing design and fabrication support for animal care teams. The Machine Shop team operates with a great sense of urgency, the Machinists enable engineers to iterate quickly as we strive to create the world’s best and most manufacturable Brain Computer Interface. Our goal of enabling people with paralysis to directly use their neural activity to operate computers and mobile devices with speed and ease is within reach. 

The Machine Shop team is looking for a Prototype build technician who can program, set up, and run their own parts. You love making things, are optimistic, and are very detail oriented. You would be responsible for parts in your queue. This involves material purchasing, proper tooling selection, programming your own machines, setting up the machines, inspection, full end to end manufacturing! About You:

  • Find challenges exciting.
  • You like learning and discovering new ways to tackle difficult problems.

  • Open to train and work with Engineers on the prototyping equipment in your department.

 

About the Team:

  • Build and iterate on prototypes working with engineers and other members of the R&D team.
  • Small collaborative team with a strong focus on great work culture.

 

Key qualifications:

  • 2 years of relevant prototyping experience.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3d printing).
  • Laser cutting
  • Read and interpret Engineering drawings

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Welding experience
  • Machining.
  • EDM experience.
