Summary
The EMG Technician performs nerve conduction studies on patients, maintains equipment and supplies, and assists during procedures under the supervision of the PMR physician.
Location: College Park, Sandy Springs, and Buckhead
Schedule: part-time
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs nerve conduction studies on patients following the guidelines and procedures of The American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists under the supervision of PMR physicians.
- Performs nerve conduction studies on both common and uncommon nerves to aid the PMR physician in the best studies to reveal abnormalities.
- Recognizes and troubleshoots physiologic and non-physiological artifact and technical issues, taking reasonable steps to obtain the best study on the patient.
- Performs Nerve conduction studies independently in routine settings under the direct supervision of our PMR physicians.
- Cleans, replenishes, maintains and assures availability of instruments and supplies needed for studies.
- Assists PMR Physician as needed during the needle examination and sets up for this procedure.
- Assist clinical staff with EMG coding, pre-certing, and scheduling as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required or needed in the office.
Education And/or Experience
- Minimum Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferable in an Allied Health Program;
- Must be a with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
- Knowledgeable in orthopaedic terminology, basic billing functions, basic clinical functions, administrative practices, operational systems, and procedures in a medical setting.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T). Registered NCS.A technician
- American Heart Association’s Certification – BLS Certified
