The Role:

We are looking for a permanent Software Engineer who has a keen interest in backend engineering and cloud infrastructure to join our growing team developing and maintaining cutting edge solutions for Max Kelsen’s enterprise clients and/or our own products. You’ll be actively delivering projects developed for large user bases with a focus on translating business logic into code, designing and implementing new features, and designing and deploying and production cloud solutions. You will be responsible for working with frontend engineers to develop backend API endpoints, working with other backend/platform engineers to design and deploy cloud solutions, and continuously improving development/deployment workflows and approaches. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Translate business problems (encompassing people, process and technology) and feature requirements into backend software solutions
  • Collaborate on design and deployment of cloud infrastructure to host/run software solutions
  • Continuously seek to improve current development and deployment practices and workflows

Minimum Qualifications

  • A proven track record delivering backend services and APIs in a major language or framework (e.g. Python/Go/NodeJS) OR designing and deploying cloud solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi, Cloudformation)
  • A strong desire to learn and upskill in the less experienced option in the above dot point
  • Working knowledge/experience with containerized applications
  • Good solution design skills, with an emphasis on designing robust, reliable and highly available online services
  • Some experience/exposure to building CI/CD pipelines for solutions
  • Familiarity with security best practices (authentication, key management, observability etc)
  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills
  • Exposure to automated unit and integration testing

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of relational database design fundamentals and SQL
  • Experience in BOTH backend software development and cloud solution development/deployment
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with Iteration Managers / Product Owners to refine the backlog, prioritise features and plan sprints
  • Experience working in a consulting/professional services environment
  • Experience/Participation in open-source projects
