Position Description: 

Vocera is currently looking for a Product Owner for our Product Management team that is ready to help drive the vision of our products and be the voice of our customer while ensuring our product team delivers on those customer needs. You will support agile delivery of product strategy as agreed upon by the Product Manager into clearly defined and prioritized features and user stories for Vocera’s (Product) that will be delivered to the development team.  This position will report to a Product Management Group Lead.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and carry out Strategic Goals in collaboration with Product Management
  • Decompose Roadmap Epics/Features into user stories with Acceptance criteria for team backlog
  • Prioritize the user stories from backlog that meet customer needs and business goals, translate customer and clinical understanding (‘why’) and technical requirements into action items for the development team
  • Lead efforts around prioritizing, defining, planning and executing user stories for Program Increment and iteration planning activities
  • Ensure team iteration goals align to PI Business Objectives
  • Collaborate with Product Manager for System Demo
  • Run the Team Demos and Participate in Retrospectives
  • Participate in escalations, bug scrubs and other daily and weekly team activities and lead real-time decision-making regarding team, story, bug prioritization

 

Competencies

  • Dedicated and customer oriented with the ability to act as customer proxy and work with Product Management, other Product Owners and development teams for short-term and long-term roadmap execution
  • Ability to manage the Program Backlog, refine, breakdown, and estimate stories with the development team
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and data-driven critical thinking skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; including the ability to present system demos and, communicate to key partners on product progress towards strategy and prioritized customer goals
  • Track record of working with dynamic cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, customer service, and senior product management
  • Proven record of leading teams through Program Increment Planning and Iteration Planning

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in technology, software and/or medical devices, including 3+ years as agile Product Owner
  • Ability to work both independently and in various team settings to assure alignment and prioritization to drive the Product Management Strategy
  • Experience in agile practice to ensure sprint work, user stories, backlog refinement and other agile frameworks are followed
  • Experience in a healthcare setting and/or an understanding of the US healthcare system is preferred
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and PII use in healthcare IT systems is preferred
  • Experience working with SAFe based product development process, and Atlassian tools, as product owner is preferred
  • Certified SAFe 4/5 Product Owner preferred
  • Travel up to 15% of the time
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required
