The Role:

We are looking for a permanent Python Engineer who specialises in back-end engineering to join our growing team developing and maintaining cutting edge solutions for Max Kelsen’s enterprise clients and/or our own products. You’ll be delivering projects developed for large user bases in Python, with a focus on translating business logic into code, designing and implementing new features and deploying and maintaining production services. You will be responsible for working with frontend engineers to develop backend API endpoints, collaborating with platform/cloud engineers to provision infrastructure, and continuously improving development workflows and approaches.

 

Expected Skills & Experience:

  • A proven track record delivering back-end services and APIs in Python, with good knowledge of frequently used libraries
  • Experience developing on AWS or GCP
  • Strong understanding of relational database design fundamentals and SQL
  • Solid algorithm development skills and understanding of data structures and OOP
  • Good solution design skills, with an emphasis on designing robust, reliable and highly available online services
  • Familiarity with security best practices (authentication, key management, observability etc)
  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills
  • Exposure to automated unit and integration testing

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with Iteration Managers / Product Owners to refine the backlog, prioritise features and plan sprints
  • Experience developing infrastructure-as-code
