We offer our clients comprehensive service platforms around target validation, plate-based pharmacology, hit identification and lead discovery, in vivo pharmacology, as well as other research and development services.
Responsibilities
HD Biosciences has an immediate opening for a Research Associate II, Behavioral Neuroscience & Immunohistochemistry, in their In Vivo Pharmacology Department, San Diego. The Research Associate II will perform experimental procedures, record keeping, laboratory maintained and other tasks associated with scientific research. Preferred candidates have experience in a behavioral laboratory and an interest in psychology, behavior, neuroscience and/or preclinical pharmaceutical research.
Essential Job Functions:
- In vivo preclinical behavioral pharmacology experiments in rats and mice.
- Formulation and administration of small molecules (IV, PO, IP, SC).
- Immunohistochemistry, including tissue collection, processing, staining, imaging, and image analysis.
- Follow research and laboratory procedures and safety guidelines.
- Work in a team environment and independently.
- Occasional work on holidays, weekends and overtime.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience / Education
- Master or Bachelor degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or Pharmacology.
- Laboratory Research Experience, behavioral neuroscience and immunohistochemistry experience a plus.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of scientific procedures with technical proficiency in immunohistochemistry and/or behavioral pharmacology.
- Good written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills to fit within a teamwork driven environment.
- Effectively communicate with internal team colleagues and external clients to promote a world-class services.
- Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) and learning other software.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a quiet office environment and a laboratory with exposure to animals/biohazards/chemicals.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
- Must be able to work in environment with variable light, temperature, and noise levels.
- Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions.
- Ability to stand/sit/walk/maintain focus for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 10 lbs. routinely.
- Ability to crouch, bend, twist, reach and climb stairs.
- Clarity of Vision and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
