Position Description
The Psychology Department at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Neuroscience to begin September 2023. Candidates will be expected to publish in peer-reviewed journals, pursue external funding, teach undergraduate and graduate relevant courses and mentor thesis projects in the MA in Psychological Sciences program.
The ideal candidate should have demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidence of research productivity commensurate with experience, and the potential to attract extramural funding with a coherent research agenda. Area of specialization should emphasize the neural bases of human cognition and complement the department’s current strengths. We are especially interested in applicants whose research prioritizes developmental/life-span approaches to cognition in healthy or clinical populations.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Psychology (Cognitive Psychology with Neuroscience Specialization, Neuroscience, or Cognitive Neuroscience), A.B.D. candidates nearing completion of their Ph.D. will also be considered
The Department of Psychology and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences
The Psychology Department serves a large and diverse population of graduate and undergraduate students and consists of a vibrant group of 30 faculty organized into three broad categories: Clinical, Industrial/Organizational (I/O), and Psychological Science. The Department is in a period of rapid expansion with 20 active research labs; over 3.5 million dollars in extramural funding; and relatively new PhD Programs in both Clinical and I/O Psychology and MA Programs in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, I/O Psychology, and Psychological Science. Research interests include neuroscience and neurological degenerative diseases, trauma, social attitudes and discrimination, leadership and organizational behavior, forensic investigation and plea bargaining, internalizing psychological disorders, language, life span development, social justice, cognition, perceptual processing, and spatial cognition.
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is the university’s largest academic unit with over 5000 undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral students. CHSS awards BA, MA, and PhD degrees through its 16 departments and 9 programs with over 30 majors and 50 minors.
