Our work is challenging, our team members are highly curious and creative thinkers who are committed to bringing the next generation of medicines to patients. Our diverse and open culture promotes scientific excellence, critical thinking, and a patient-centered approach where people can develop to their full potential.
Our neuroscience group is working to identify and characterize biological disease mechanisms of several novel neurodegenerative disease targets. We are seeking a highly motivated and independent non-PhD, lab-based Associate Scientist to join our group. Working collaboratively with a highly accomplished and multi-disciplinary team you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that translate condensate biology to therapeutics and expand our neuro portfolio. Successful candidates will have experience in mouse handling and basic molecular and cellular biology techniques and be responsible for in vivo projects and new target validation for multiple neurological disorders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute mouse studies for establishing primary cultures, in vivo pharmacology and target validation to enable Faze neuro programs
- Develop and execute in vitro cell-based assays to assist scientists leading target validation and evaluation of novel therapeutics in various neuro programs
- Maintain accurate records and capture data and experiments in electronic lab notebook and internal databases
- Assist with data collection, summarizing results and provide regular updates at internal meetings.
Requirements
- BS/MS in cell biology, molecular biology, neuroscience or a related discipline with 3+/2+ years of lab research experience, preferably in an industry setting (note: more senior candidates are also invited to apply and will be leveled/compensated commensurate with their qualifications if hired)
- Proficiency in basic rodent techniques: Mouse handling, tissue harvest, dosing (IP, IV), mouse injection (IP, SQ, IV, RO); experience with CNS techniques and mouse brain slice cultures are a plus
- Proven hands-on experience with analytical assays such as Western, ELISA, RNA isolation from cells and animal tissues, qRT-PCR. Experience with multiplex detection of mRNA and/or protein is a plus
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture techniques. Experience with Primary neuronal/non-neuronal cultures and/or differentiation of human iPS cells to various CNS cell types is a plus
- Entering data, analysis, and interpretation into electronic laboratory notebooks and internal databases
- Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills
- Ability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
- Open communication with demonstrated written/verbal skills to clearly capture data in presentation ready formats and share at both internal and external meetings
