Firmware Engineer, Neural Signal Processing
Boston, MA · Full Time
Neurable is seeking an experienced firmware engineer to build wearable devices powered by Neurotechnology. You will help Neurable develop neural experiences for an innovative new Bluetooth headphone product that tracks focus and reduces burnout.
This is an opportunity to join a high-impact company, a world class team, and pioneer new technology that will change the way people interact with computers. We want you to have full creative latitude and know that this is your company, not just a job.
What You Will Do:
- Develop software for a microprocessor/DSP chipset that will perform post processing operations on brain data from EEG sensors
- Build firmware that interfaces with Qualcomm Bluetooth SoC.
- Port ML and post processing algorithms to embedded environments
- Collaborate with neuroscientists and ML engineers to develop new algorithms for processing brain data
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- 5+ years experience in embedded systems development for consumer electronics products
- Familiarity with STM32 or other ARM-core processor family chips, ADI/TI DSP, or other 32-bit chipsets used for both control and signal processing
- Able to implement DSP algorithms/filters such as:
- Fast Fourier Transforms
- FIR filters (LPF, HPF, BPF, Notch)
- IIR filters
- Downsampling/decimation filter
- Summary statistics operations on temporal signals
- Efficient data storage of temporal signals (e.g., circular buffers)
- Familiarity with board design, layout, and best practices for processor implementation on HW PCBA
- Knowledge of analog circuit design is helpful
- Knowledge of biopotential measurements systems (EEG, ECG) is also helpful, but not critical
- Experience with Qualcomm SoC family a plus (won’t be programming, but interfacing)
- Experience implementing ML algorithms on DSP/MCU using, Cube.AI or Tensorflow is a big plus
- Experience with developing RTOS and bootloaders for embedded systems for implementation
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary and equity
- High quality health insurance (100% company paid)
- 401(k) with employer matching contributions
- Generous PTO
- Remote and hybrid work options
- Pet friendly office, fun team activities, and homemade waffles every Wednesday!
