We’re looking for a Vice President to join our Finance team in the United States. Reporting to the CFO, this role will be the primary owner of Oura’s financial accounting, operations and controls and will manage a global team responsible for financial reporting, general ledger accounting, full-cycle accounts receivable/accounts payable functions, payroll, global tax, and corporate controls.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of successfully managing global finance and accounting organizations in the health, consumer or technology industries. This individual has a high degree of emotional intelligence and technical understanding, is detail oriented and can motivate a team to perform at a high level.

This role will be based out of our San Francisco or San Diego offices, although we are open to candidates who reside anywhere within the United States.

 

What you will do:

  • Manage a global team of finance and accounting professionals in both the U.S. and Finland consisting of team members focused on financial accounting, tax, payroll, AR and AP
  • Own the development and delivery of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, variance analyses and flux reports
  • Lead the global financial closing and lead month-end closing review meetings with key members of the finance team
  • Coordinate with FP&A, IR and Corporate Finance teams for the preparation and tie-out of supporting materials for internal, external and Board presentations
  • Lead historical financial and operating reporting by digesting monthly and quarterly financial results and successfully communicating trends, risks, and opportunities to the finance and executive teams
  • Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, planning and forecasting by validating baseline trends, providing guidance for the accounting treatment of various future scenarios and reviewing forecasts to ensure consistency with financial statement preparation
  • Design and implement world-class policies, procedures and systems to govern all aspects of the accounting function at Oura
  • Drive financial operations process improvement through improved efficiency of AR, AP and payroll processes
  • Lead technical accounting research and management of complex accounting issues
  • Oversee and maintain the accounting infrastructure within Oura’s ERP
  • Lead the design of system reports and processes that enhance the timeliness and accuracy of reporting packages
  • Lead the design and implementation of a robust corporate controls framework
  • Successfully grow a lean and dynamic finance team by identifying talented individuals and creating an environment for collective success of the team

 

Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you have any of the following, but don’t worry too much if you don’t fill all the requirements:

  • 12+ years of finance and accounting experience with most recent experience as a senior level accounting professional at a publicly traded or large private company
  • Public accounting experience at some point in your career
  • Experience building and/or operating in a SOX 404 environment a plus
  • Experience successfully managing a finance and accounting team through significant growth and/or an IPO
  • A CPA license
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and at least some prior experience with non-U.S. financial reporting standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, including strong spreadsheet skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working directly with senior management
  • The ability to work both independently, taking your own initiative, as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • The ability to successfully supervise, contribute to and manage the prioritization of multiple initiatives and projects to successfully meet deadlines and objectives
  • High attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic
