Job Description
Cajal is seeking a Software Engineer motivated by Cajal’s mission to develop new medicines for patients suffering with neurodegenerative disorders. We are a multi-disciplinary team of experienced scientists, combining state-of-the-art approaches in computational biology, functional genomics, high-throughput imaging, translational models, and drug discovery. In a short time, we have assembled a terrific team of talented, innovative, and passionate individuals to transform the field of neurodegeneration drug discovery. We aim to identify novel drug targets based on a deeper understanding into the spatiotemporal progression of disease and translate those discoveries into therapeutics that change the course of neurodegeneration. Cajal is now expanding to establish a world-class drug discovery organization.
As a Software Engineer at Cajal, you’ll work closely with other engineers and scientists on the computational biology team to build scalable data infrastructure, informatics pipelines, and user-facing tools that enable our science teams to quickly collect, process, and analyze TBs of imaging and multi-omic data.
This job might be great for you if you:
- Are excited to solve difficult engineering challenges, learn and implement new technologies, and dive deep into cutting-edge science.
- Have 2+ years experience developing data-intensive software.
- Are an expert in at least one programming language (experience with scientific languages and libraries is a plus).
- Have experience with software engineering best-practices (e.g. source control, CI/CD, code review, testing, design).
- Have the strong communication skills needed to work closely with a diverse team of colleagues.
- Are detail-oriented and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented startup environment.
- Have a BA/BS in computer science or a related field or have equivalent experience.
Important Considerations
- Cajal operates as a hybrid workplace, but we prefer that team members spend part of their time working on-site in our Seattle offices. Fully remote roles may be considered for exceptional candidates.
- The annual base salary range for this role is:
- SWE I: $115,000 – $135,500
- SWE II: $135,500 – $148,500 *
Final salary depends on qualifications, experience, and level of skills relevant to the role, along with location, where applicable.
