Electrical Engineer

Electrical Engineer

Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States          ·         Full-time

Description

Our mission at Precision Neuroscience is to develop and commercialize brain-computer interfaces (BCI). We are pursuing minimally invasive approaches to BCI to address major unmet clinical needs. We are well-capitalized and have an IP portfolio that has been built over nearly 10 years.

Brain-computer interfaces represent a new frontier in medicine and computing. We seek to establish Precision Neuroscience as one of the leading companies in this space globally. Our core objective is to deliver life-changing technology to millions of patients worldwide, and in doing so to transform the ways we interact with machines, one another, and our world.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support our hardware engineering team in developing electronics for our implantable brain-computer interface (BCI). This role is best suited to a “generalist” who enjoys working on a wide range of electrical engineering tasks.

In this individual contributor role you will work with an experienced team and contribute to a well-defined clinical product. Our goal is to improve the lives of patients who live with neurological disorders and to do so in a matter of months and years, not decades.

This position is on-site in Bloomington, Minnesota. We are unable to consider candidates who are not currently in the US.

For more detail on our work, see our preprint here: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.01.02…

You will:

  • Support our multidisciplinary hardware engineering team to develop optimized electronic systems, working with applications that are size-constrained and that operate at low power.
  • Complete a range of electronic system design, firmware, PCB design and layout, and testing tasks.
  • Contribute to design and development of our analog mixed-signal circuits.
  • Complete testing, simulation, verification, and implementation tasks.
  • Interface with industry-leading partners for fabrication and assembly needs.
  • Participate in detailed, collaborative discussions about the impact of your work on the overall BCI design. Such discussions are driven by the excellent, substantial feedback loop generated by our rigorous experiment schedule.
  • Create and update end-user technical documentation, product specifications and vendor procedures.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Computer Engineering (CE), Computer Science (CS), or related field.
  • 1-3 years’ industry experience in electrical engineering roles.
  • Good understanding of the physical and mathematical principles of electrical engineering, especially circuit and electronic design.
  • Experienced in hands-on testing tasks with lab instrumentation such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers.
  • Experience with writing firmware for and debugging MCUs.
  • Experience with analog mixed-signal circuits.
  • Experience with bring-up and debugging new hardware systems.
  • A track record of delivering on accelerated timelines and budgets, with a demonstrated history of self-directed work within a team.
  • Expertise in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog (preferred).
  • Intermediate in C, C++ (preferred).
  • Experience using Altium (preferred).
