Snapshot:
We are seeking an extraordinary Executive and Policy Communications professional to communicate DeepMind’s progress on its mission of solving intelligence to advance science and benefit humanity through the lens of our executive leadership team. This candidate will work on executive communications, leadership talking points, messaging, speakership and events opportunities, strategic content creation and management efforts that enable us to deliver engaging, impactful and informative content. In this role, you will also be called on to support and enable the organisation’s executive leadership team to communicate DeepMind’s work and impact to UK and EMEA audiences, and collaborate with our Policy and Public Affairs teams to meet the organisation’s policy communications objectives. You will also support the wider communications team on issues and crisis communication initiatives.

The Role:
We’re looking for a curious & engaged Executive and Policy Communications Manager to bring their broad skillset to bear in one of the most interesting & innovative organisations around today!
Responsibilities:
- Seek out and/or create opportunities to further DeepMind’s executive thought leadership platform on public policy issues in the UK and EMEA. This includes supporting the Head of Policy and General Counsel on media opportunities, speaking engagements, and content development.
- Develop strategies for engaging with and educating policymakers around issues important to DeepMind.
- Work in collaboration with the external, public affairs, and policy teams.
- Engage regularly with media, industry and other stakeholders.
- Advise on, draft, and execute executive communications, to include internal communications, briefings, and talking points; as well as thought leadership pieces such as blogs, bylines and op-eds and social media.
- Drive issues management programs with a policy component and serve as key communications counsellor on company, operational or reputational issues
- Develop creative, approaches to a range of communications challenges.
About you:
In order to set you up for success, we look for the following skills and experience:
- A background in technology communications, with a focus on AI technologies.
- Previous in-house communications experience.
- An established network of relevant media contacts, influencers and other stakeholders and an awareness of the digital influencer landscape (with a particular focus on AI/innovation).
- Demonstrable success planning and executing integrated and scalable campaigns.
- Experience working closely with executive leadership and their teams.
- Passionately up-to-date on emerging and future trends in AI.
- Hands-on experience driving policy-focused campaigns.
- Hands-on experience with communications related to company, operational, or reputational issues
- Strong writing skills and an ability to translate the complex into simple, clear and intuitive communications.
