Company Description
Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real-time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.
Position
The Data Science (Drug Discovery) role is central to our vision of building software to bridge between scientists and engineers. Working collaboratively, you will develop and deploy algorithmic solutions for high-throughput drug discovery screens, improving Eikon’s ability to analyze experiment results.
About You
You are an adventurous, passionate, and creative software engineer eager to apply your talents to empower interdisciplinary scientific exploration, inaugurate a radical drug-discovery paradigm, and ultimately create novel medicines. You will bring to this challenge enthusiasm, high energy, intellectual curiosity, and scientific rigor. You are excited about being a foundational member of a small but growing team.
As part of Eikon’s diverse team, you will interface with biologists, medicinal chemists, microscopists, and optical and automation engineers to design and deploy computational solutions that enable the exploration and quantification of Eikon’s high-content datasets.
What You’ll Do
- Define and implement analytical and machine learning solutions to solve complex high-throughput drug discovery problems using various computational tools.
- Establish new methods for analyses and build workflows and dashboards for analysis visualizations to drive decision-making for drug discovery programs.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to understand tactical needs to keep experiments moving forward.
Qualifications
- MSc in Computer Science or in a related quantitative field (physics, statistics, computational chemistry, etc.) plus at least 3 years of experience working as a programmer, or equivalent
- Expertise in analysis of large-scale datasets and multicomponent optimization is required.
- Prior experience with algorithm development in a scientific domain
- Strong Python programming expertise required
- Chemistry knowledge at the college level is preferred
- Biology knowledge at the college level is preferred
- Ability to efficiently investigate and solve problems, from prototype development (Python) to production designs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-oriented, flexible, able to adapt to rapidly evolving goals and challenges
- Enthusiasm for gaining biological and drug discovery experience is essential
