PostDoc – Electrical Engineering With Expertise in Nano-material-polymer Composites for Bio-Sensing Applications
Montréal, Quebec, Canada · Full time
Postdoc in Electrical Engineering with expertise in nano-material-polymer composite based bio-sensors at AAVAA and Queen’s University, Canada
We are looking for a Material Engineer with expertise in designing and fabricating electrically conductive nano-material-polymer composites to assist in developing advanced polymer bio-sensors for head-worn audio devices. The position is available as early as November 2022. The position will be in collaboration between AAVAA and a research group at Queen’s University, Canada, and will be mainly located at either AAVAA in Montreal or Queen’s University in Kingston, with the possibility for traveling between the two locations. By working on this project, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team building a unique listening device that allows people to hear what they want by processing their surrounding sounds based on their brain and bio-signals. Our goal is to give everyone control of their auditory environment, enhance the sounds they want to hear, and suppress distracting noise.
In addition to solving one of the biggest challenges of human health, you will get:
- A generous salary, benefits, and vacation program
- A safe, healthy, and inclusive work environment
We are looking for problem solver engineers and scientists who are collaborative and meticulous. The applicant should have a PhD in a related field. We are dedicated to increasing diversity in science and technology; therefore, candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
We have multiple postdoc positions and we are looking for candidates with the following:
- Knowledge of nanotechnology and hands-on experience in fabrication of sensors and electronics using nanomaterials based polymer composites
- Experience with computer-aided design, simulation, and modeling software (COMSOL, Cadence, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Prototyping processes involving polymer materials (3D printing, molding, casting, etc.)
- Knowledge of bio-sensors for electrophysiological recording and specifications (SAE, ASME, ANSI, etc.)
- Electrical and mechanical characterization of polymer composite using Scanning electron microscopy, four point probes, dynamic mechanical analyzer, etc.
- Materials processing and testing
Some of the following preferred skills:
- Design for manufacturability practices for low and high-volume output
- Knowledge of electronic circuit design
- Knowledge of solid-state devices
- Material chemistry, physical properties characterization, and processing of polymers
- Material development for manufacturing of healthcare and/or medical devices
- Advanced material synthesis of biocompatible materials (composites, fibers, polymers, etc.) with the goal of attaining improved material properties and/or additional functionality (thermally/electrically conductive materials, nanocomposites, sustainable polymers, etc.)
