The Director, Business Development, BioPharma Partnerships is a key member of the PathAI Business Development team and will hold primary responsibility for identifying and developing partnerships between PathAI and BioPharmaceutical companies focused on three strategic areas: 1) Translational Research; 2) Clinical Development Services (including laboratory services); and 3) Diagnostic Products (RUO, IVD, CDx).
Responsibilities:
- Drive commercial opportunities with BioPharmaceutical Companies:
- Build off an existing client foundation to achieve deeper client engagements through strategically advancing alliances and creatively structuring future deals with senior leadership
- Prospect for new partners, develop deal structures, and close deals with Pharmaceutical Companies to support PathAI’s strategic areas
- Accountable for setting, reporting on, and achieving account KPIs
- Evolve and expand relationships in new and existing clients
- Lead cross-functional Client team:
- Act as the PathAI Key Point person with BioPharma partners
- Develop / Refine account strategy in collaboration with cross-functional partners
- Develop targeted material for client presentations including relevant publication findings and tailored material to support the client’s drug development pipeline
- Generate and negotiate term sheets through to execution of contracts for new collaborations which have been reviewed with the cross functional executive team
- Continued alliance management for executed programs to ensure and monitor client satisfaction as well as identify further areas of collaboration opportunities
- Ensure effective partnership governance and strategic planning
- Identify and support new product opportunities with BioPharmaceutical Companies:
- Provide insights to internal teams to shape areas of focus, product roadmap, market positioning, and pricing strategy based on external trends
- Provide commercial expertise and market feedback when assessing new product opportunities and expansion areas
- Support development of marketing materials to support such efforts
Key attributes:
- Works collaboratively to develop and deliver business cases to secure strategic alignment and investment during internal business planning processes, including long-range planning.
- Engage, inform and influence internal and external stakeholders to support approaches.
- Sponsor/driver of activities in support of stakeholder management.
- Delivery of relevant information to support business planning
- Effective and transparent risk, opportunity and issue management at strategic, tactical and operational levels.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have deep clinical, diagnostic and business experience in the biopharmaceutical industry with a track record of success in driving high-value partnerships and collaborations.
Specific qualifications include:
- Advanced degree (scientific field preferred)
- A combination of diagnostic company and startup experience is preferred
- Able to build relationships with R&D, clinical, and commercial executives at all levels within pharma organizations, enabling identification, development of and support for additional value-creation opportunities across their portfolio
- 7+ years of biopharmaceutical industry, laboratory or industry-related business development experience
- Scientific background with an ability to understand and communicate scientific and technical applications
- Track record of successfully assessing new business opportunities and establishing large scale partnerships is preferred
- Strategic thinker who possesses solid business judgment and the ability to identify and evaluate risk and opportunity at the scientific, development and regulatory levels
- Entrepreneurial mindset – proactive, persistent, collaborative, and excited to tackle a wide range of new topics
- Strong moral compass
