The Neuroscience Institute (NI) was launched in 2018 to bring together faculty and students from across the University to conduct multi-disciplinary work to advance the state of brain science. The Institute is searching for a Financial Assistant to work within our finance and research team.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Provides fiscal and administrative support to the finance and research administration team
- Processes all routine Institution financial transactions, including Purchase Orders, Expense Reports, Payroll Distribution Adjustments, Accounts Payable Redistributions, Journal Entries, etc.
- Creates and manages electronic files, including running system reports and creating/modifying spreadsheets
- Makes purchases for the Institute using University purchasing card and purchase orders
- Follows up on any outstanding transactions in the system, maintains organized digital records of all electronically signed transactions/documents
- Issues honorarium payments and sets up consulting agreements in partnership with the University Contracts Office
- Responds to basic customer or vendor questions concerning invoice payments. Refers difficult or unusual questions or issues to higher level managers or to supervisor
- Helps ensure CMU policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed
- Travel and Recharge responsibilities including: make travel arrangements for faculty, staff, students, and visitors to the Institute; process expense reports and travel reimbursements for faculty, staff, and students; help process monthly billing charges for recharge centers; tracks recharge center equipment

Qualifications:
- High School/GED required; associate degree preferred
- 3-5 years administrative support and data entry/word processing experience required
- Microsoft Office, Google applications, and Oracle experience preferred.
