Job Summary
The Department of Neuroscience invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track appointment in Neuroscience and Mental Health at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The candidate must have demonstrated excellence in an area of research that is appropriate to a Department of Neuroscience, and in particular contributes to the Department’s strength in research on stress and resilience in relation to physical and mental health. We are specifically seeking applications from individuals whose research combines a focus on psychosocial determinants of health with a deep understanding of neurobiological processes that mediate or further contribute to health outcomes. The candidate should have a strong record of expertise using a range of methodological approaches appropriate for the conduct of research assessing psychosocial and neurobiological processes in human participants, with an orientation toward the translation of findings to community or clinical contexts. Applicants should indicate in their cover letter how their research program would fit within our departmental research focus.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D., and should have an established academic program of research within the field of neuroscience and/or mental health, with high quality academic publications plus active grant support (e.g., CIHR or NSERC) or be in a strong position to obtain such funding. In addition to maintaining an active research program, candidates will be expected to undertake graduate supervision, teach undergraduate and graduate courses within a neuroscience and mental health program, and contribute effectively to the academic life of the Department. Candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching and mentorship of students, and a demonstrated aptitude for teaching undergraduate courses in Neuroscience at the 3rd and 4th year level.
Application Instructions
Complete applications should be sent electronically in one single PDF document and include a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching and research interests, and a one-page description of the applicant’s expected fit to Carleton University’s Strategic Research Priorities.
Please indicate in your application if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
