The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic Director of Finance eager for the opportunity to evolve our finance and accounting department. As Director of Finance, you will report to our CEO, Andrew Wilder, and work directly with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic and operational plans based on business insights. Your days will be focused on both hands-on accounting management and high-level financial leadership.
This is a full-time, salaried position starting immediately in our Sugarhouse, Salt Lake City office, with work from home flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with executive team and business unit leaders to deliver financial modeling and data-driven budgets that highlight key business insights and drive opportunities. This includes forecasting, cash flow planning, and other ad-hoc financial analyses as needed.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of new business ventures including geographic and industry
- Design and monitor intercompany and shared service cost allocation programs for each entity.
- Perform consolidation of month-end and year-end account reconciliations and reporting.
- Prepare and present financial statements for monthly, quarterly, and annual planning.
- Manage capital and banking activities to ensure lines of credit and appropriate funding is available to meet operational needs and growth objectives.
- Prepare cash flow projections and oversee cash management.
- Oversee accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, Payroll, and expense reimbursements.
- Create policies and procedures that balance legal compliance and practical internal application.
- Coordinate and perform internal and external audits.
- Manage third-party finance-related relationships including CPA, Insurance, Attorneys, Consultants, etc.
- Oversee financial activities and reporting for federal and state grant programs.
- Develop finance function and team as our business grows.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent experience.
- CPA and/or Master’s Degree preferred – we will support time needed for in-progress studies.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; preferably within small to mid-sized, multi-entity/multi-site corporate environments.
- 2+ years of departmental, people, and/or project leadership experience.
- Manufacturing industry experience; preferably in highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial laws and regulations (including US GAAP), along with experience applying best practices in corporate policies and programs.
- Exposure to international accounting standards.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of government grant standards.
- Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) exposure.
- Extensive experience utilizing and configuring accounting and inventory management software.
- Microsoft Office and/or GoogleSuite experience; including familiarity with shared folder/ document sharing tools (ex. GoogleDrive, Teams, Sharepoint).
- Microsoft Excel experience at intermediate level; ability to create complex formulas, Vlookups, Pivot Tables, etc.
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams throughout product lifecycle management; from R&D to Sales to Production.
