About the Role
As one of our staff software engineers, you will have the opportunity to lead the design of our back-end cloud services and web application development for revolutionary research and clinical products. You will work closely with internal and external cross-functional team members to create cutting edge accessible technology.
The position is a hybrid role and requires both in-office (Liberty Village location in Toronto) and remote work. Up to 10% travel required.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Service as the technical subject matter expert and development lead on cloud and web technologies – best practices, testing, performance, reliability, scalability.
- Design and build cloud services and web apps with a security first mindset.
- Define and execute system architecture.
- Provide development support and technical mentorship to other teams as assigned.
- Drive continuous improvement on cloud and web products.
- Provide technical support as issues arise with deployments.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for regulatory filings for the FDA.
- Maintain customer and corporate privacy standards as outlined by HIPPA or other relevant privacy standards.
- Database schema design.
- Conduct or participate in code or design reviews.
- Supervise other engineers or vendors as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or similar discipline with 10+ years of experience.
- Experience with relevant regulatory standards, such as: ISO 13485, ISO 27001, ISO 14971, IEC 62340.
- Experience in one or more mainstream object-oriented languages, such as Java or C#.
- Experience with common web technologies, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, HTML, CSS.
- Experience working on a major cloud provider, such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Prior experience releasing and sustaining cloud-based applications at scale.
- Experience developing and designing scalable, distributed, customer facing web applications using microservice designs.
- Practical DevOps experience scaling and sustaining cloud and web products.
- Experience creating and integrating REST APIs.
- Experience with MongoDB or another major database framework.
- In depth knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Experience in Docker, Kubernetes, or other container-related technologies.
- Deep understanding of Cloud-based software development, microservices, and cloud-oriented CI/CD pipelines.
