Scientist Antibody Engineering – Discovery

Research & Development       ·        South San Francisco, California, United States of America       ·         Full time

The Position

We are seeking a scientist familiar with antibody repertoires, structure-function, and design to join us to discover antibody based therapeutic candidates to treat major unmet medical needs such as cancer, autoimmunity, neurodegeneration, and other diseases.

The candidate will join the antibody engineering department, in large molecule drug discovery, and develop/use advanced computational methodologies to analyze antibody repertoires from in vivo and in vitro selections.  They will use these datasets to interface with AI/ML approaches in collaboration with Prescient Design to enable the discovery and optimization of clinical candidates.  Our new scientific colleague will help bridge our antibody discovery capabilities with computational approaches to develop novel discovery paradigms.  This is a unique opportunity to join a team of pioneering antibody engineers to not only develop the next generation of computational antibody design capabilities, but also apply them to advance innovative medicines that address life-threatening human diseases.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must have a PhD or equivalent in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Biomathematics, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have conducted innovative research in the application of computational and AI-based methodologies to antibody structure, engineering, and design with a record of impactful publications.
  • Candidates with previous experience in bioinformatics analysis and mining of large antibody repertoires are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience in drug discovery is not essential.
  • The candidate must be a proficient communicator and collaborator with a solution-oriented mindset toward scientific problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed for this role.
  • Most importantly, our new colleague will be excited by research at the interface between computation, protein design, and biology, with the ability to define important scientific problems and ultimately drive innovation to solve them.
