Position Summary:

The Data Scientist is a member of the IT Engineering Services team who will acquire and apply advanced analytics, statistical, and machine learning methods to CST internal and external data sets. This individual will play a key role in CST’s data-driven focus on providing actionable analytics and insight to key business questions related to CST products, customers, and business strategy.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Combine data engineering, data analytics and data science skills with robust cloud technologies to significantly impact the growth of a cutting edge, data-driven biotech
  • Collaborate closely with the bio scientists and data scientists in CST’s Bioinformatics and Product Development groups
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders throughout CST’s scientific, antibody manufacturing and commercial organization
  • Develop advanced data pipelining and ELTs and that will lead to new insights and novel data science capabilities
  • Centralize data from best-in-class scientific and manufacturing platforms into the CST Data Lake using streaming, microservices and ETL tools
  • Establish and apply metadata policies so data can be discoverable in the Data Lake Catalog for self-service BI and other uses
  • Pioneer new, robust super-scalable cloud data transformations using Glue, Spark, Step Functions, Fargate and many other aws services
  • Connect disparate data into knowledge graphs in the Data Lake using Neo4j Graph database and Cypher
  • Track and persist data lineage in the Data Lake so that the evolution of data can be easily understood and communicated
  • Create data visualizations from the Lake using best-in-class data visualization tools including Tableau and Linkurious
  • Help steer and grow our Cloud Data Lake and Big Data Connection Platform and its DevOps
  • Take part in the growth of the company’s Data Science capability, best practices and work standards

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum 4 years professional work experience demonstrating proficiency in the following areasWorking with large data sets & meta data models
    • Data preparation and integration
    • Writing SQL queries
    • Building complex data analyses using languages such as Python or a related scripting language
    • Leveraging machine learning models
    • Programming: Python, UNIX , cloud computing
    • Visualization: Tableau or AWS QuickSight
    • Versioning: git or equivalent
    • Relational Database: SQL (Oracle, mySQL)Proficient in multiple technologies, including:
    • Cloud Compute: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google BigQuery

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Intimate, enthusiastic knowledge of Data Engineering, Analytics, BI, and data visualization
  • Embraces Data Science and leverage of Data Science tools to speed up getting to insights
  • Experience with Python, relational databases, Mongo, query languages, Elasticsearch and cloud-based Data Lake technology
  • Excitement about “Big Data” technology and data science, especially as applied to scientific and manufacturing pipelines
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders at different levels of seniority
  • Ability to distill and effectively manage information and align strategy of Data Engineering to the functional and company goals
  • Able to work both in a team and independently, to deliver results
  • Good attention to detail and an ability to analyze and use data in decision making
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities
  • Willing to take initiative and create progress even on unfamiliar ground, or with ambiguous requirements
  • Prior experience with various technologies, such as:
    • Graph Database: neo4j
    • NoSQL Database, like MongoDB
    • Graph Visualization: Linkurious
    • Commercial Platforms: LIMS, ELN
    • Cloud DevOps: Cloud Formation, Github Actions
    • Data science tools
