Software Engineer, Public Web Apps

Software       ·        Fremont, CA      ·       Full time

Neuralink’s Product Engineering team is crafting the systems which will manage the core user lifecycle for Neuralink’s customers. Initially, this means owning neuralink.com, and building significant new functionality such as the Patient Registry to inform folks of our progress toward clinical trial recruitment.

The Product Software Engineering team uses their skills writing backend and frontend code to apply world-class development and UX best practices to build accessible and performant user-facing experiences. You will work with folks from teams such as Clinical, Legal, QA, Infrastructure, BCI, and Implant to integrate with their systems and ensure our solutions meet all Compliance and Legal requirements. In addition, you will consider performance, security, and reliability to ensure we move as quickly and safely as possible to achieve our goals.

Key qualifications:

  • Strong command of either backend software engineering and/or client-side JavaScript and other web technologies.
  • Patient but rigorous communication style that identifies key requirements that lead to building a superior product flow.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Expertise in creating complex layouts with web standards-based tools.
  • Comfortable leveraging cloud services such as AWS Lambda, ECS, or EKS to continuously deliver rapidly improving backend services, and codifying other infrastructure with tools such as Terraform.
  • Ability to consider Security as a first-order requirement to properly respect and care for our user’s data.
  • Experience handling and processing payment information.
  • Machine learning skills to highlight the best potential candidates from our participant submissions.

About you:

  • You find large and small challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them.
  • You deliver. You may enjoy thoughtful conversations about problems and perfecting designs, but ultimately, you know that what matters is launching a manufacturable solution that works every time.
  • You are a cross-disciplinary team member. You are excited to work with and learn from software, mechanical, electrical, materials, biological engineers, and neuroscientists.
  • You are comfortable communicating across teams.
  • You are resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small.
  • The ideal candidate is flexible and flourishes in a fast-paced and challenging environment. They should be a self-starter and have excellent motivation, leadership, and ingenuity to excel at this position.

What we offer:

  • An opportunity to change the world and work with some of the smartest and the most talented experts from different fields.

Multiple studies have found that a higher percentage of women and BIPOC candidates won’t apply if they don’t meet every listed qualification. Neuralink values candidates of all backgrounds. If you find yourself excited by our mission but you don’t check every box in the description, we encourage you to apply anyway!
