We’re looking for engineers who are passionate about creating technical solutions that enable teams across DeepMind’s organisation: from organising AI research to optimising internal operations, tools we build make DeepMinder more efficient & effective. No machine learning experience is required for this role!

About us

DeepMind’s mission is to “Solve intelligence to advance science and benefit humanity”.

The goal of the Org Tech team is to drive technical solutions in partnership with teams across DeepMind to create the organisational culture & operational efficacies necessary to achieve our mission. These solutions can be custom-built software systems, third-party tools, data pipelines, dashboards, process changes, or usually a combination of these. Org Tech is a team of ~15 SWEs, Analysts, and Program Managers who act as a force-multiplier for the org by ensuring that teams across DeepMind have efficient, effective tools to perform their key tasks & the right data to facilitate key decisions.

Our team is part of the DeepMind Platform team, whose goal is to make all of DeepMind fast and effective through products, tools, libraries, frameworks, services, and to co-deliver key technical innovations to unlock AGI. This is a community of ~70 SWEs and other technical roles who work with other teams across the company to provide and advance our state-of-the-art technological infrastructure.

The role

We’re looking for hardworking software engineers who are interested in creating and enhancing tools and services to help DeepMind flourish. You’ll join an inspiring and collaborative environment, working on ground-breaking technology with potentially extraordinary impact.

As a member of the Org Tech team, you’ll work alongside experienced SWEs, Program Managers, and Data Analysts on tools that will make a material impact on the workflows of your colleagues. Your users will be other DeepMinders, so you’ll get to work closely with helpful, motivated collaborators who will give you immediate feedback and help you iterate rapidly.

Within this broader engineering team, we’re currently growing our efforts in the following projects:

• Tech for Operations: Enable DeepMinders working primarily in our Operations teams by creating automated solutions to day-to-day workflow problems ranging from data pipelines, scheduling systems, full stack internal tools, to external public websites. This project involves a large diversity of tech stacks and lots of direct interaction with users & teams across the company.

About you

In order to set you up for success as a Software Engineer at DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience: 

• SWE interpersonal skills (discuss technical ideas effectively with colleagues, e.g. through whiteboard, design docs, presentations, etc.)
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages.
• Solid understanding of algorithm design.
• An interest in DeepMind’s mission

In addition, the following would be an advantage: 

• Interest in web application development & user experience.
• Experience with data analysis tools & libraries.
• Experience building third-party integrations.
