Your mission :

The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.

Main duties and responsibilities include :

  • Contribution to research under the project of Blue Brain Project
  • As per the superior’s instructions, contribution to tasks related to EPFL’s missions in education research or innovation
  • Contribute to the mouse brain modelling efforts of BBP, specifically: Develop mathematical and model descriptions of the structure of synaptic connectivity of the mouse brain.
  • Contribute to the development of analyses of the results of large-scale brain simulations and validations against biological data.
  • Develop, maintain and document computational tools related to the previous point.
  • Write articles and other documents related to the research activities
  • Participate in conferences and dissemination of research results
  • Participate in the teaching activities of the section as needed: attend exercises, experiments and supervise semester projects, correct examination papers

Your profile :

  • PhD in Neuroscience or related field
  • Experience in computational modelling techniques
  • Solid background in neuroscience to contribute to the development of mathematical and model descriptions of the structure of synaptic connectivity of the mouse brain on a cellular level
  • The ideal candidate has the mathematical background and programming experience to be able to analyze and validate the results of very large-scale brain simulations in insightful ways
  • Experience in python is a must, C/C++ a good plus.
  • Motivated team player and fluent English in speech and writing

We offer :

  • A world-recognized leader in simulation-based research in neuroscience
