The Country Manager in Japan will be responsible for activating expansion and new market entry in Japan.
The ideal candidate has both a strategic business background, as well as a deep understanding of country-specific rollout planning, localization efforts, sales, product, operations, finance, and marketing functions. In past roles, you’ve demonstrated an ability to think strategically about business challenges and can build and convey compelling plans and actions that inspire cross-functionally across the organization. You thrive when solving complex and ambiguous problems, are comfortable challenging the status quo, and have a proven track record of managing large programs. You can identify and communicate a clear vision to a diverse stakeholders and drive ideas to completion.
This role will be remote in Japan.
What you will do:
- Help build, socialize and sell in a 5-year strategic view of Oura’s approach to operations in Japan, in close partnership with all cross-functional groups
- Focus on achieving near-term sales, especially in the Enterprise and partnership space, to show early success
- Activate, project manage and drive Oura’s programs and go-to-market playbook in your region in close partnership with our sales, operations, finance, product, and marketing functions.
- Work with key stakeholders across all functions to deliver against plans and requirements to ensure successful and efficient expansion rollouts.
- Partner closely with many other teams at Oura – to ensure we’re thoughtful and consistent in our planning and execution.
- Evaluate and communicate the progress of ongoing in-market projects, plans, and performance regularly to key stakeholders, achieving cross-functional alignment around goals and objectives.
- Provide in-depth analysis of key business drivers to measure progress towards your country’s growth goals and develop recommendations for maximizing your country’s performance
- Act as a key partner for marketing to ensure all marketing and partnership opportunities in Japan are culturally appropriate, meaningful, and on point
- Identify and resolve issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet your country’s strategic, financial, and technical goals. Your program management skills allow you to coordinate and track work across multiple teams efficiently. Your start-up mentality enables you to find workarounds for any business challenge.
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you have the following:
- 7+ years of experience in corporate international expansion, product or market launches, and/ or national-level sales
- A functional knowledge of business English, and the ability to work in English, is a must
- A strong entrepreneurial bent
- You’re a shrewd written and verbal communicator in English and Japanese, lead meetings with program stakeholders efficiently and bring clarity to ambiguous situations.
- Strong history of proven results in project management of large projects would be considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, positive, solution-oriented, and easy-going.
- An unyielding commitment to the quality of your work, with an ability to achieve precise and measurable results with your efforts.
- Strong background in sales or marketing would be considered an asset.
- A strong network of contacts in your country would be considered an asset
- The ability to travel up to 25% of the time would be considered an asset
