Description

The Program in Neuroscience at Bates College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the fall of 2023. We welcome applications from any sub-discipline that studies the function of the brain and mind. We are especially interested in candidates whose work has potential clinical/medical applications. We welcome applications from individuals who are broadly trained Ph.D. scientists from Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, Computer Science, or related fields. The new faculty member will join ongoing cross-STEM initiatives in inclusive pedagogy, equity and inclusion, and curricular renovation.

Teaching responsibilities for this position include Introduction to Neuroscience and additional courses that could include lab-based instruction in topics such as cognitive neuroscience, systems neuroscience, bioinformatics, or computational neuroscience.

The position includes developing an active research program involving undergraduates and advising senior theses. Undergraduate advising and service on institutional committees are also part of the work that all faculty share.
