About the position 

The Smart Networked Systems (SNS) Research Group at the CYENS Center of Excellence, invites applications for a Senior Researcher position. The successful candidate will conduct research related to Traffic Prediction and Offloading, Relaying, D2D communication, and Edge computing in 5G/6G wireless networks. 

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to conduct fundamental and/or applied research in the aforementioned areas. The performance of the envisioned methods/algorithms may be evaluated in both simulators and experimental platforms to be developed. Depending on their qualifications and expertise, successful candidates will be responsible to prepare reports and project deliverables, contribute to the preparation of research proposals, implement and deploy applications, engage in algorithm and software development, and assist in the supervision of undergraduate students. Furthermore, successful candidates will be strongly encouraged to publish their research results in high quality international conferences and journals. 

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Prof Vasos Vassiliou Leader of SNS MRG. 

General qualifications and requirements 

• Postgraduate degree (PhD) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.  
• Previous research experience and publication record will be considered a significant advantage. 
• Research Experience in Traffic Offloading or Relay Node Selection, or D2D protocols\ 
• Understanding of Mobile Edge, Fog, and Mobile Cloud Computing 
• Good knowledge of radio resource allocation and management 
• Background of current technology trends in 5G such Network slicing, virtualization and SDN/ NFV 
• Very good programming skills 
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in an international team 
• Motivated candidates with strong mathematical and/or algorithm development backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.  
• Language requirements: Excellent written and oral English-language skills will be required.
