Neuromodulation Engineer

Engineering & Product team         ·          Paris (France) – Station F office       ·          Full time

Who we are

Clarity is a French-American early-stage health tech company.

Our mission is to provide integrated and holistic care to people suffering from neurological disorders through intuitive digital therapeutics (DTx). As a first step, our team is focusing on the development of a home-based and easy-to-use non-invasive neuromodulation device to improve the health and quality of life of people with Alzheimer’s disease.

We bring passionate and talented innovators together to develop the next generation of brain health solutions.

As a member of our team, you will play a significant role in pioneering those solutions and improving the lives of hundreds of millions of patients and families worldwide.

If you look for your next challenge at a mission-driven company and want to solve the world’s biggest challenges, please apply!

Your role

🧠 As a Neuromodulation Engineer, you will have a key role in our R&D team and collaborate with our engineers and neuroscientists to develop a new-generation, non-invasive and non-pharmacological neuromodulatory treatment. You will be co-designing and developing stimulation protocols. You will also be involved in the ideation and development of our digital therapeutics together with our neuroscience and design team. Your role will result in creating a potentially new disease-modifying treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

What you will do

  • Develop noninvasive stimulation protocols.
  • Create cognitive and functional tasks in virtual reality (VR).
  • Work with real-time EEG data and closed-loop systems.
  • You should understand perfectly the state-of-the-art in neurostimulation and digital therapeutics (including VR).

Who you are

We would love to have you on our team if you:

  • Are driven by solving health issues, especially neurological disorders and are excited by difficult challenges.
  • Are product and results-oriented. We can not afford to work without a clear roadmap and execute it. Our resources are limited, and patients don’t stop suffering. We look for someone who will keep the product on top of his/her mind and have the ability to take decisions fast. You should be comfortable delivering weekly improvements and navigating between data and gut-driven decisions.
  • Have the ability to put heart into your work: in order to build something new and revolutionary, we can’t have a “closed expert mindset”. We look for someone who can work with his/her emotions and creative energy.
  • Have an analytical sense and critical thinking: we will expect you to be systematic and organized throughout the development of both the stimulation protocol and the VR-based cognitive tasks. Because we work as a team, good reporting skills during problem-evaluation, problem-solving and iteration, will be essential.
  • Are flexible and learn fast: given the scope of work, you should be able to jump from one topic to another with a similar impact.
  • Have high ability to execute and collaborate: given the scope, volume and timeline of work, the ability to direct people—including yourself—towards a particular goal that may require orchestration is key. You know that in the end what matters is delivering a product that works.
  • Are patient and determined. With any Start-Up, patience and determination are key. We are determined to bring our solutions forward, however, we recognize that there will be setbacks. We seek an individual who can be patient and understanding when we face these obstacles and able to stay motivated to help us reach our goals.

Key Qualifications

  • MSc degree or Ph.D. in neuroscience or biomedical engineering.
  • +3 years experience and proof of exceptional abilities in developing neurostimulation methods or digital therapeutics.
  • Strong experience programming with Unity (C#) and designing VR environments.
  • Strong experience with analytical programming languages (Matlab and Python).
  • Experience with time-series signal processing and EEG devices.
  • Loving solving hard technical problems.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English. All our communications are in English.
