Description
Life Sciences at TTP
TTP’s Life Sciences team is on a mission to improve healthcare. Working at the intersection of biology, physical science and engineering we invent, design and manufacture products and technologies in areas including (but not limited to) cell therapies, point of care diagnostics, high-throughput drug discovery, molecular detection, DNA sequencing and cancer screening.
Multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers and designers collaborate to realise the most ambitious challenges set by our clients; global market leaders, as well as exciting technology start- and scale ups.
We are making big strides in revolutionising manufacturing and process automation so more people have access to ground-breaking cell therapies that have shown incredible results in fighting cancer. We have a proven track record in delivering cutting-edge diagnostic solutions, pushing the limits of PCR instruments.
The role
As an Electronics Engineer at TTP you will be developing a range of complex instruments and consumables. Our business is structured around projects, so there will always be variety in your work, as well as the people you work with.
You will be involved in the full product development cycle from requirement capture, verification planning activities, technology evaluation to schematic design, to delivering prototypes ready for manufacture. Producing PCB layouts independently or by working with third parties, as well as Transfer To Manufacture (TTM) activities for volume manufacturing are regular responsibilities.
You can expect most of the work to be regulated and will be applying our quality management system as you go. You will participate in risk-management activities such as Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) for the bioprocessing equipment used to manufacture life-saving cell therapy treatments. You will be using your broad understanding of physics and how it relates to electronic components and circuits to develop the next generation of diagnostic instruments to be faster, easier to use, and able to diagnose a wider range of illnesses.
Besides your technical contributions to new technologies, you will grow strong, collaborative relationships with existing and future clients, understanding their needs along with their strategy and vision. Our engineers and scientists are also our project leaders – the role offers the opportunity to take ownership of leading the development of our projects and develop your project leading skills.
This is somewhere to really make your mark. Working in a technically challenging and impact-driven company, with bright and ambitious peers.
Requirements
Who are you?
This role is ideal for a hands-on, bright and collaborative Electronics Engineer who is keen to grow within an impact-led organisation. You’re passionate about all things electronics and about innovating healthcare. You’re naturally inquisitive and curious person who is excited by the idea of solving real world problems.
You can expect autonomy and responsibility from the start and will have a real opportunity to develop quickly. You will have a strong drive to further develop your technical skills, project leading capabilities and your commercial awareness whilst working as a client-facing engineer.
What do you need?
- Multi-year experience in state-of-art electronics engineering
- A strong academic record with 1st or 2:1 degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- Good communication skills and a collaborative nature to work effectively in multi-disciplinary project teams, and communicate regularly with client.
- Proven experience theory, design, and testing of circuits in several of the following areas:
- Power electronics: particularly <50V, <200W voltage regulators
- Digital electronics: particularly high-speed signal integrity
- Analogue electronics: particularly precision, low-noise circuit design
- Opto-electronics: particularly Light Emitting Diode (LED) and laser drivers, and photodiode or image sensors
- Motion control: particularly Direct Current (DC), Brushless Direct Current (BLDC), and stepper motor drivers, and position, speed, and force sensor technologies
- Temperature control: particularly resistive or infrared heaters, Peltier devices, and temperature sensor technologies
- Fluid control: particularly pumps, valves, and pressure and flow sensors
- Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) management and mitigation
- Electrical safety: particularly for mains-powered devices, or higher voltage but current-limited drives such as those used for piezoelectric actuators or electrophoresis
Inclusion and Diversity
Our business revolves around collaborating with one another to tackle genuinely hard problems. Equality and diversity in the workplace are some of the most challenging problems facing society. We can’t profess to be perfect in this regard or to yet have all the answers. But we continuously strive to do better, and we fundamentally believe in the power and importance of diversity – both for our community and for the overall success of our business.
We, therefore, encourage applications from all individuals. Whatever your background, whatever your identity: we would love to hear from you.
