Position Summary

Neuroelectrics, a biomedical company based in Barcelona and Boston (USA), is looking for an exceptional Information Systems Director with a very hands-on attitude to lead our IT department. The successful candidate will report directly to executive management and be responsible to align Neuroelectrics IT infrastructure and IT operations to the company’s short, mid, and long-term strategy. We believe we are driving a revolution in how we measure and modulate the activity of our electrical brains, which will have a massive impact on health, wellness, human-computer interaction, and society.

 

What Will You Do

  • Oversee and manage the IT team by prioritizing tasks and assigning resources to ensure that the department’s actions are aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Develop an understanding and a top-level perspective of the company’s operational needs and translate them into actions and projects in SW development and IT infrastructure.
  • Led the critical design and implementation of an extensive medical imaging database for High-Performance Computing applications. 
  • Own, monitor, and improve the company’s data flows (including medical data) and ensure data privacy (GDPR, HIPAA) and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Represent the company as the Information Security Officer:
    • Assess, monitor, and mitigate security risks
    • Own, manage and monitor the company’s Information Security policies
    • Coordinate and plan internal and external Information Security audits
    • Manage and analyze information security incidents and coordinate the appropriate responses
  • Ensure SW Development and IT Infrastructure compliance to the relevant regulations and standards of the medical industry (such as FDA or MDR).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with and enforce compliance with established information security and privacy policies and standards and act in accordance with instructions and procedures received.

 

What Do You Need

Must – have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related fields.
  • At least 3 years experience as a Head Software/Systems Architect or Head of a technical/IT department
  • Experience in leading technical SW development teams.
  • Knowledge of DevOps processes: CI/CD Integration in GitLab, Docker
  • Knowledge of the legal rules applicable to information security 
  • Proficiency in English at both oral and written levels (minimum C1 level or equivalent) 

 

Bonus points

  • Experience developing or leading the development of SW for the medical industry.
  • Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 820 (FDA) and MDR (EU), medical device classification and development
  • Experience with agile disciplines
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, HIPAA, and GDPR directives
  • Possess any of the following certifications: CompTIA+, CISM, CISA, CISSP
