Position Summary

Neuroelectrics, a biomedical company based in Barcelona and Boston (USA), is looking for an exceptional Firmware engineer with a very hands-on to support our engineering team. The successful candidate will work at the forefront of applied neuroscience in a medical device company focusing on involved the design and development of embedded firmware solutions for brain diagnoses and stimulation devices. We believe we are driving a revolution in how we measure and modulate the activity of our electrical brains, which will have a massive impact on health, wellness, human-computer interaction, and society.

What Will You Do

• Clinically ready wireless EEG and multichannel transcranial brain stimulation
• Biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease diagnosis and prognosis
• Closed-loop neuro-stimulation
• Support the development of innovative non-invasive products to study and modulate human electrical brain activity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with and enforce compliance with established information security and privacy policies and standards and act in accordance with instructions and procedures received.

What Do You Need

Must – have

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, or computer engineering or a comparable qualification
• At least 2 years of working experience as an embedded systems/firmware engineer
• Proficiency with C and C++ programming for embedded systems
• Experience in firmware design, development and documentation on microcontroller architectures
•  Understanding of hardware interfaces (UART, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485) and communication protocols (USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth, WiFi)
• Proven hands-on experience with embedded systems, debugging and testing equipment
• Experience with Git source code management tools and CI/CD workflows
• Experience with the elaboration of HW / FW specifications
• Advanced written and verbal English communication 

Bonus points

• Knowledge about the development of desktop applications with GUI using C++, C#, Java or others
• Familiarity with the Qt framework
• Working knowledge of Python and Matlab
• FPGA programming
• Knowledge of cloud/web technologies
• Familiarity with regulations on safety-critical (aerospace, medical or similar) software
• Experience in agile environments.
• Handling and generation of technical documentation.
