Summary
The Digital Strategy Associate assists SfN’s Digital Strategy team in the execution and oversight of content on the SfN website (SfN.org). The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively across departments and teams on interdependent projects, and should be interested in utilizing the latest digital innovations to achieve membership engagement goals.
Essential Job Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work with departments to improve new and existing web content and structure that enhances communications effectiveness.
- Assists with maintaining web pages for multiple departments on SfN website and collaborates with content contributors throughout the year, helping to ensure the Society’s member benefits, programs, and content align with organizational priorities and are surfaced at relevant times of year.
- Maintains an editorial calendar and produces content for SfN.org.
- Carefully manage the QA function to ensure content meets governance standards.
- Provides scheduled website data analysis using Google Analytics. Researches web-related tools, technologies, and strategies to enhance the Society’s web presence.
- Coordinates closely with the Technology Services (TS) department to maintain and improve functionality of the website.
- Leads monthly content collaborators meeting with supervision from manager. Elevates issues as needed.
- Works independently and within the team to ensure decisions are made to further SfN’s goals and priorities in terms of messaging on the website.
- Actively pursues training and certifications for web usability, multimedia tools, web design, and new web technologies.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Minimum Requirements And Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, website design or other relevant field
- Experience in planning, managing, and developing Web site content and Web projects, as well as writing and editing content for the Web.
- Working knowledge and thorough understanding of web-based technologies (SiteCore and HubSpot) and proven judgment in distributing content.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with membership organizations a plus.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Photoshop, and experience with web content management systems and graphic design.
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail.
- Proven expertise in editing and writing, as well as adhering to style guides and Web guidelines.
- Ability to coordinate tasks in a flexible manner to address changing needs.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and remain responsible and accountable for results.
- Ability to handle challenging interpersonal situations with tact and professionalism.
- Experience using Google Analytics and analyzing data is desirable.
Language Ability: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with an excellent working knowledge of the English language.
Math Ability: Basic math skills (ability to figure percentages and proofread scientific figures) required. Statistical experience for analytics a plus.
Reasoning Ability:
- Must show good judgment, logic, and skepticism in evaluating scientific studies and the ability to present controversial topics in a balanced, yet interesting manner.
- Also must be able to competently handle potentially controversial issues and situations.
Computer Skills:
Must have intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite, and be comfortable working in online environments, learning and becoming familiar with online systems and tools.

Physical Demands:
During the annual meeting other demands will include setting up signs and assisting with literature distribution. This work will include long hours of standing and walking, including up and down stairs and escalators, moving up to 25-pound boxes. In addition, throughout the year, the environment becomes very stressful and hectic as many deadlines approach simultaneously.
