Job Description

Teledyne Scientific Company (TSC) has a legacy of over 50 years of advanced research and technology development. Our customer base consists of DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARL, and other government and proprietary customers. TSC’s Intelligent Systems Laboratory in North Carolina is a state-of-the-art research and development research facility, dedicated to R&D in the areas of computational neuroscience, deep learning, machine learning, persistent surveillance, autonomous systems and computer vision. The laboratory currently is host to world-class scientists and engineers, with advanced degrees in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, neuroscience, chemistry, biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering.

The Program Manager manages programs and proposals within the Intelligent Systems Laboratory division, both technically and administratively, including cost, schedule, and technical execution.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Interacts successfully on a business and technical level with a wide variety of customers, presents customer briefings of progress, issues, solution approaches, interacts with key technical personnel to coordinate and give direction to briefings
  • Leads proposal generation in response to customer requests. Lead for internal pricing activities for proposal generation. Writes and contributes to technical and management proposal volumes.
  • Coordinates with internal functional execution groups, identifies and resolves resource constraints to accomplish program or product development execution to cost, schedule and technical milestones
  • Tracks, reports and takes proactive action on program financial status to ensure planning of program and financial execution
  • Takes key role in contributing to the definition of product development activities – Leads program execution with team planning and meetings necessary to accomplish milestones
  • Manages subcontract, consultant, and material procurements
  • As relevant, completes internal and external forecasting of awards and/or program execution
  • Frequently works with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for tracking and reporting of data  
  • Supervisory Responsibilities – None

 

Qualifications & Competencies

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead multi-functional teams through project completion
  • Operates with substantial latitude for un-reviewed action or decision
  • Ability to handle multiple challenging unstructured areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrates high level of insight, initiative and productivity
  • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately 10%
  • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office (Project, Teams, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices  

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Engineering Management, or equivalent professional experience in technical field.
  • Formal project management training is a plus.

 

Citizenship Requirements

  • Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, with the ability to obtain a government security clearance.
