Responsibilities

• understanding relevant studies in EEG literature
• optimizing placement of EEG electrodes over target areas
• comparing signal-to-noise ratio and other characteristics of commercial and custom EEG headsets and minimizing noise within a data acquisition system
• running power analyses to estimate the information rate EEG can provide information to our learning algorithms
• programming and executing in-house proof-of concept experiments relating EEG signals to subject behaviour
• updating an intelligent tutoring system to include real-time EEG data as well as overt learner responses

Prerequisites

• required: prior experience in signal processing or analysis of electrophysiological signals such as EMG, EOG, ECG, and EEG
• preferred: ability to work with electrophysiological apparatus such as oscilloscopes, impedance meters, pre-amplifiers, amplifiers, and stimulus generators and isolators
• preferred: experience with software for real-time experiment control and data acquisition, such as MATLAB or LabVIEW
• desired: experience with Linux, C, Python, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and NoSQL
