Job Description
Responsible for the smooth operation of the Accounting functions of respective region(s) in EMEA. Ensure accounting data is complete and accurate. Certify accurate reporting and analysis of financial data. Calculate and post monthly entries to ensure accounting principles are adhered to. Communicate with other departments to explain government and company regulations and to gather information to formulate a fiscal year budget. Manage external accountants to ensure efficient utilization of services. Manage accounting team in respective region(s).
Job duties:
- Ensure proper use of SAP ERP system in line with company policies.
- Timely preparation of various monthly, quarterly, and annual fiscal reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, payroll summaries, and accounts receivable summaries.
- Supervise the Accounting team in respective region(s) responsible for entry of financial data.
- Manage month-end close of accounts.
- Balance and reconcile accounts.
- Prepare monthly analytical commentaries on monthly financial reports, including variance reporting and analysis of key balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze use of external accounting services and identify potential areas for bringing tasks in-house. Initiate and maintain the internal operation of such tasks. Coordinate use of external accounting services as required and appropriate.
- Assist in managing the performance of external accountants as needed.
- Ensure adequate and appropriate controls are in place for the financial systems of respective region(s), in line with corporate policy.
- Support EMEA Finance Director in developing and monitoring annual budgets.
- Support external auditor as required.
- Manage expenditures and report on unusual or off-budget expenditures.
- Coordinate payroll preparation internally or externally for respective region(s) in EMEA.
- Supervise the calculation and preparation of inter-company invoices as required.
- Supervise the review and processing of staff expense reports in respective region(s).
- Supervise inventory control, including regular inventory checks and reconciliations.
- Supervise accounts receivable collections.
- Prepare and post journal entries as required, including accruals and prepayments.
- Manage the Ringi process within respective region(s) in EMEA as needed.
- Supervise the resolution of supplier queries and processing of supplier payments, ensuring the correct approval process is followed.
- Process VAT and Social Contributions payments.
- Regularly review and reconcile VAT accounts.
- Perform further financial analysis and reporting as required.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Chartered Accountant
- An appropriate high-level accounting qualification.
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of prior experience in financial reporting and analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques, and principles.
- Experience in developing and documenting Accounting systems.
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting financial data.
- Strong written and verbal communication and good interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong English language skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, by phone and in writing, with international correspondents.
- Ability to assess business requirements from a financial perspective.
- Ability to manage and direct staff and external consultants.
- Ability to assume responsibility and timeliness of work completion.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work unsupervised, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Occasional international travel.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with a multinational firm based in the US a plus.
- Experience with SAP a plus.
- Knowledge of IFRS.
- Experience in high tech or medical device industry preferred.
