Pay range: 60,000-75,000 annually
Biweekly hours: 72

 

The INN’s Project Manager will play a critical role in the development and implementation of SFU’s new Open Science framework. The initial phase of the project, in partnership with the Tanenbaum Open Science Institute, will include bringing together partners and other interested parties from across the SFU research community for consultations and the drafting of SFU’s open science policies. Reporting to the INN’s Senior Program Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Open Science framework project. The ideal candidate understands the open science and open innovation landscapes, has strong interpersonal skills and demonstrates leadership capacity.

 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and project management of Open Science framework initiatives, including project plan creation, project documentation, identifying and managing project risks, and milestone tracking
  • Engagement of project stakeholders, including planning, communicating and implementation of Open Science consultation process
  • Research open science policies at comparable institutions
  • Leading project communications and marketing activities (newsletters, website, social media)
  • Assisting in project meetings (planning, agendas, minutes, tracking)
  • Assisting policy drafting committee
  • Advise and assist on financial reporting as required
  • Assist in project fundraising, evaluation and programming as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Public Policy, Communications, Science, Applied Science, or equivalent)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in project management
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and documentation
  • Knowledge of open science and open innovation landscapes, preferred
  • Excellent partnership mediation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to build relationships and maintain rapport with stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in diverse team settings
  • Experience using project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or equivalent

 

This is a 12 month appointment with the possibility of extension dependent upon funding.
