Gaming / Virtual Reality – R&D – Software · Alameda, CA (On-Site) · Full time
The Algorithm Engineer will work on current and next generation tracking systems (electromagnetic and fusion with additional tracking technologies) for the Immersive Healthcare system. The work will include prototyping and testing algorithms on development tools such as Matlab, Python, and others, and then integrating them into the SW, FW and drivers of our proprietary VR platform.
What You’ll Work On
- Research tracking technologies and propose improvements to capabilities and robustness for existing and novel tracking systems*
- Research and generate mathematical concepts that provide solutions for existing and novel tracking systems*
- Translate mathematical ideas and concepts to working and testable Matlab/Python scripts, embedded firmware, and/or native (C/C++) driver code*
- Work closely with System, Hardware, Firmware and SW teams to implement features*
- Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures. *
- Understands relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adheres to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company. *
- Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.*
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
What You Contribute
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be an experienced algorithm developer and a generalist who is comfortable with all aspects of development, and a proactive self-starter.
- Experience in developing algorithms for 6 DOF (position and orientation) real-time tracking systems using various tracking and sensing technologies such as IMU, optics and electromagnetics
- Ability to analyze algorithm constraints and impact on the system performance
- Working knowledge in any of these fields is an advantage – Kalman filters, SLAM algorithm, Bluetooth, communication protocols, developing FW for embedded platforms (MCU & DSP)
- Extensive C/C++ development experience strongly desired.
- Virtual reality or motion control development experience desired (Oculus Rift, VIVE, Playstation VR)
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously
Working Conditions
- General office environment. Business travel from 0% – 10%. Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and to use a computer, sitting for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

- Starting Base Salary is $148,488 – $188,347/year.
- Individual compensation will vary over time-based on factors such as performance, skill level, competencies, work location and shift.
