Manager, Clinical Specialist

We are excited to be launching our next generation heart lung machine and are currently in search of a leader for our clinical specialist team.  The Clinical Specialist Manager will play a critical role in the launch of the Essenz Perfusion System, embarking upon a #NewEraOfPerfusion, as well as support the comprehensive suite of LivaNova perfusion products, including autotransfusion, oxygenators, perfusion tubing systems and cannulae.

Clinical Specialist Manager:

The primary effort of the Clinical Specialist Manager is to provide leadership, focus, and direction to a team of field based Cardiopulmonary Clinical Specialists. This position will design, develop and deliver customer-focused education and training to ensure optimal use of LivaNova CP products. The role requires ownership of projects from start to finish and management of a team of professionals, as well as collaboration with sales training and internal stakeholders.

This role requires working with a wide range of professionals: Perfusionists, Nurses, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Physician Assistants, Anesthesiologists, and LivaNova Team Professionals.

**This is a remote position.

 

Primary Performance Objectives:  

Develop and execute educational programs for Healthcare Professionals to support LivaNova Cardiopulmonary products.

 

You will do this by:

  • Developing and executing a Cardiopulmonary Professional Education plan to support the business strategy
  • Understanding the clinical educational gaps and needs and how these interplay with strategic priorities
  • Managing the Clinical Specialist department and providing technical and clinical support to direct reports.
  • Interacting with regional sales managers, account executives, and hospitals, triaging requests, and delegating assignments to Clinical Specialists.
  • Using internal tools to track and report on Clinical Specialists’ utilization and training effectiveness
  • Assessing performance of department, providing training, and career development as necessary.
  • Serving as a working manager and taking individual responsibility as a Clinical Specialist to support customers and sales team.
  • Leading and managing content creation, such as procedural training videos and other educational content projects as identified.
  • Supporting field sales team as a clinical expert and provides training for new hires and advanced representatives.
  • Serving as a clinical expert for the organization.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and create buy-in across those groups, including key educational bodies and societies
  • Working closely with identified KOLs and surgeons to deliver local Professional Education workshops and events.
  • Identifying and contract with key education suppliers
  • Collaborating with Marketing to develop and deliver applicable Prof Ed programs.
  • Undertaking field visits as required to deliver upon Professional Education commitments
  • Working within LivaNova Compliance and all industry guidelines to ensure all activities are compliant

This position will work throughout North America on all Cardiopulmonary products.

The ideal candidate should have examples of recently working in a similar environment. You should have at least 6-10 years of related Clinical and Professional Education experience including supervisory experience.

 

You must have:

  • Knowledge of the US cardiovascular medical device marketplace
  • Working knowledge of operating room and hospital operations
  • Ability to manage and develop a high-performance field-based team
  • Empathy and understanding of the field sales force
  • High degree of job ownership and business sense of urgency
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to independently develop and deliver effective PowerPoint presentations and hands on training to all levels of customers and internal stakeholders
  • Works well within teams both cross-functionally and teams that may or may be not located within a specific building or geography
  • Ability to understand scientific facts and package them into a cohesive communication model for healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, analytical thinking and problem resolution skills
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft computer software applications
  • Ability to travel primarily domestically (up to 90%) and be available for off hours, urgent issue resolution
  • Ability to meet hospital credentialing requirements
  • Sit 80%, stand/walk 20%
  • Repetitive use of computer
  • Lift 0-50 lbs

Educational requirements include Bachelors degree in a clinical discipline, such as CCP or PA; MBA or MS desired.
