Business Manager
In this role you will be responsible for supporting all administrative functions for Motif to enable the team to most efficiently advance development and delivery of the company’s platform technology: miniature implantable devices for mental health.
What is Motif?
Motif is a medical device startup based in Houston, Texas. We are designing and developing minimally invasive electronic solutions for serious mental health conditions. Powered by our patent-pending methods for wireless power and data transmission, our goal is to create the smallest implantable brain stimulator and deliver therapies to patients by 2024.
We are a seed-stage startup with funding from both venture capital firms, grants, and private angel and founder investments.

We are currently completing the development of our first minimally invasive neural stimulation system and preparing for future versions with additional functionality based on our platform technology.
We are looking for a Business Manager to help keep our business operations running smoothly.

In this role, you will…
- Support HR functions for the company including administration of team benefits, and onboarding of new employees.
- Assist with billings and agreements with service providers.
- Manage the Houston area facilities including compliance and management of receiving, equipment calibration, inspections, and service agreements.
- Ensure adequate IT support and telecommunications infrastructure to meet team needs
- Ensure the company has adequate office supplies, computers, and related resources.
- Interface with the board, investors, and other key contacts, including event coordination
- Compile and disseminate presentations/decks, reports, and other materials for CEO
- Plan and ensure the smooth execution of board meetings
- Assist with equipment purchasing and reconciliation.
You Will Need
- Several years of experience in an operations role at a small, fast paced organization with a track record of managing the business and administrative functions of a company
- A track record of getting things done efficiently both individually and a team member
- Excellent communication skills along with a positive attitude that motivates others
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Keynote, and other business software
- To be located in Houston, Texas or willing to relocate there
It is a bonus if you:
- Have experience with HR for a small to mid-sized company
- Have a bachelor’s degree
- Have experience developing and running purchasing procedures
