About the role:
A multi-faceted management position that provides supervision and oversight for the Arden Hills Analytical Lab supporting electrical failure analysis, mechanical testing and imaging technologies for investigational analysis of materials, components and devices from multiple BSC Divisions and Operations Sites. This position will report to the Senior Lab Manager and work collaboratively in a matrix-style organization, while supervising laboratory staff who support work directed by the scientists and customers. This leader will work effectively with lab and site management to enhance engagement, development, and work satisfaction of their direct reports, instilling an inclusive and winning culture.
Divisional Overview:
In Rhythm Management (RM) we offer solutions for treating irregular heart rhythms and heart failure, and protecting against sudden cardiac arrest. In addition, we offer solutions with 3D Mapping and Navigation systems, Radiofrequency Ablation catheters, Diagnostic Catheters, EP recording systems, and Intracardiac Access Sheaths. Boston Scientific develops, manufactures, and markets a broad array of products and services that enable less-invasive care for some of the most threatening cardiac conditions. We’ve been expanding indications and conducting pivotal research for nearly 25 years, resulting in increased access to the lifesaving and life-enhancing benefits of ICD and CRT therapies.
Key responsibilites include:
- Provide daily oversite of routine testing within the lab, coordinate with internal customers and external service vendors, and ensure procedures are developed, implemented, and maintained to meet quality system requirements.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal multi-site customers to understand their needs and priorities, and plan resource allocations accordingly. Coordinate testing performed for Boston Scientific acceptance activities and ensure service levels meet or exceed expectations.
- Work with direct reports to define clear performance and development goals/objectives. Provide coaching, leadership, and development to leverage their strengths. Foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Participate in site level Winning Culture initiatives and department level strategic objectives. Foster a culture of continuous improvement. Work cross-functionally and across sites to define and drive improvements and change across a variety of areas.
- Process ownership of routine Incoming Quality Assurance (IQA) and Manufacturing Process Monitor testing, as well as the Equipment Control process within the Analytical Lab.
- Ownership of Analytical Lab quality system compliance and business metric performance in key areas of responsibility including IQA testing, process monitor testing, and equipment control.
- Contribute to the development, monitoring, and adherence of area budget.
Minimal qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering or similar degree with 4+ years of related work experience.
- Experience working in a laboratory with GMP controls.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering or related degree.
- 2+ years supervisory experience with a passion for bringing out the best in people.
- A demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and ability to drive results.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence cross-functionally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, both technical and conversational.
- Medical Device or regulated industry or laboratory experience preferred with multi-functional experience particularly in quality, manufacturing or engineering
