The Role:
The Senior Software Engineer will work within the Cardio-Pulmonary Business Franchise as part of the HW/SW Team on the development of new products.
He will work specifically on life-sustaining devices as Heart-Lung Machines or other products of the cardio-pulmonary portfolio (e.g., Auto-Transfusion Systems, Heater-Cooler) on a wide spectrum of tasks during the concept, design, and verification phase.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops high safety Software mainly working on complex HMI responsible for configuring, monitoring, and remotely controlling the system
- Supports on the definition of product requirement in close collaboration with other stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, System Engineers)
- Defines the Software Architecture in collaboration with the SW Architect considering all constraints coming from legacy products or interacting with HW Engineers to overcome possible HW challenges
- Develops the Software and crates the necessary Design Documentation in line with the Medical Devices’ standards
- Ensures the quality of the Software deliverables through up-to-date static/dynamic code analysis tools and by developing Unit Tests, Code Reviews in line with internal Quality standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Some years of experience in the development of embedded systems in a large or mid-size organization
- Bachelor/master’s degree in computer science/Informatics or equivalent
Skills:
- Able to work in a fast-paced multicultural environment
- Open-minded
- Hands-on attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to positively influence other peers and drive continuous improvement of SW Tools and processes
- Good command of English language. Fluency in German language is appreciated
Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong programming skills in C++
- Solid experience with Qt Graphic Framework and developing complex Graphic User Interfaces
- Solid knowledge of Linux OS features (e.g. threading and concurrency, memory management, device drivers, I/O, etc.)
- Experience with static/dynamic code analysis tools (e.g., Clang-Tidy/Clazy, Polyspace) as well as with SW Unit test frameworks (e.g., Google Test and QTest Library)
- Knowledge of SCM tools as SVN, GIT, JIRA, Eclipse IDE, ClearCase etc.
- Knowledge and previous experience working with Agile methodologies
- Knowledge of EU, US and international medical quality, safety standards (IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485).
- Operation and use of standard debug, test and measuring tools
