A position exists, for a Research Associate to lead the design and validation of novel in vitro and in vivo neurotechnologies. This involves working with group members to develop electrode arrays, both for cell culture and implantables and validate them in appropriate in vitro models that include 2D and 3D cultures of neurons and astrocytes.

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

 

The key responsibilities and duties are:

  • Device design – reviewing literature on neurotechnology and designing electrode arrays for electrophysiology recordings in vitro and in vivo.
  • Cell culture – developing 2D and 3D cell cultures from neurons and astrocytes and interface them with electrode arrays.
  • In vitro validation – conducting electrophysiology measurements in suitable 2D and 3D cultures to validate and optimise device design.
  • Planning and organsing – planning the use of research resources, laboratories and workshops as appropriate, planning and managing own research activity in collaboration with others.

Applicants must have a PhD in Neuroscience.
