The Position

Principal Project Lead/Manager, DevSci Informatics

Development Sciences Informatics is seeking a seasoned Principal Project Manager to manage and/or lead multiple mission-critical informatics efforts in the translational sciences space.  Development Sciences (DevSci) and Translational Medicine (TM) are translational sciences organizations that play a critical role in Genentech Research and Early Development as well as late stage development of our products at Roche. These groups support drug discovery and development projects across all therapeutic areas from discovery to launch and beyond. We are poised at a unique time when large volumes of complex and varied internal and external data needs to be readily accessible to ensure that swift interpretation and decision making can occur. DevSci Informatics is accountable for leading the strategy and execution around data lifecycle management, data standards, analytics infrastructure, ongoing data operations and informatics systems.

This position will play a key role harnessing and focusing diverse informatics skillsets in delivering value to fast-paced scientific organizations that have little patience for traditional “IT” approaches.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage and/or lead multiple large, mission-critical informatics efforts focused on data, workflow or reference systems, data management, analytics and/or engineering.
  • Partner with product owners to drive all phases of product development including visioning, business analysis, strategic planning, resourcing, software development, change management, user engagement, communication, data migration, testing, training, etc. . .
  • Help to define project management best practices for a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering value to scientific stakeholders.
  • Mentor and potentially manage more junior project managers/coordinators.
  • Skillfully balance the need to deliver in a fast-paced environment with the need for more formal PM approaches.
  • Partner with portfolio managers to define lean project status tracking and reporting practices.
  • Manage large and complex informatics-related initiatives with multiple, at times global stakeholders.
