The Position
Major Responsibilities:
The Informatics Analyst III will lead AI projects that find insights from biological data such as genomics, proteomic or metabolomics data. You will lead all the processes from omics data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing, to training machine learning models or develop bioinformatics
tools.
- Lead small to medium size projects to identify and define problems, find relevant data sets, and prototype AI/ML/DL and analytics methods.
- Develop predictive models using various data types including genomics, proteomic and metabolomics.
- Assess and apply new machine learning methods to specific problem domains.
- Analyze the ML algorithms that could be used to solve a given problem and rank them by their success probability.
- Explore and visualize data to gain an understanding of it, then identify differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the model in the real world.
- Work with scientists, research associates and clinical scientists, statisticians and database specialists across the company.
- Contribute to best practices on application of AI/ML/DL and analytical techniques.
- Maintain expert knowledge in analyzing multimodal single-cell genomic and other related high dimensional data.
- AI/ML/DL and analytics technologies trends in our industry.
Competencies and Qualifications:
- Experience with applying AI/ML them towards disease modeling.
- Experience with building bioinformatics tools and analyzing biological data such as genomics, proteomic or metabolomics.
- Proficiency with Python and basic libraries for machine learning such as scikit-learn.
- Developed predictive models using genomics/proteomic/metabolomics data to uncover disease insights.
- Perform data analysis for genotyping arrays.
- Experience with NGS data processing and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior NLP, image analytics, and a strong publications record is a huge plus.
- Experience with a deep learning framework such as TensorFlow/PyTorch/Keras is a huge plus.
- MS/Ph.D in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related disciplines with at least 4 years of relevant experience in an academic institution or a pharmaceutical/biotech company.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $122,000-$226,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below. Benefits
