General Information

CYENS Center of Excellence (formerly known as RISE) is pleased to announce that the Thinker Maker Space is now accepting internship applications for two paid internship positions for Visual Documentation/Media Administration and Creative Industry Admin.

Thinker Maker Space of CYENS is a multifunctional creative space for Rapid Prototyping, Digital Fabrication, Electronics, Machining workstations and Mix-R Equipment, that provides cutting–edge equipment and hands-on expertise to assist creative and cultural industries, encourage technology led innovation, support entrepreneurship and to inspire skill-based creativity.

 

Details Of The Program

There are up to two (2) paid Internship slots for full-time engagement. Applicants must be available from June 15th for a period of 5 months. Interns will be expected to give an open presentation of their work before the end of their time with CYENS.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be able to work in CYENS’ premises in Nicosia and must be either:

  • Undergraduate students (BA, BSc);
  • Post-Graduate students (MA, MSc and PhD);
  • Early career individuals (who have graduated from university within the two years) or any other individuals with relevant background
  • Good knowledge of English
  • For non-EU applicants an entry visa and/or work permit may be required

 

Required Skills

Visual Documentation/Media Administration – Photo & Video (Paid Internship)
  • Educated to degree level in Visual Documentation/Videography or related field.
  • Content creation for utilizing various forms of art (videography, photography, motion graphics, etc.) related to TMS activities
  • Excellent Knowledge of Adobe Premier, Photoshop and Illustrator. After Effects and motion graphics proficiency will be considered as an advantage.
  • Excellent video and photo editing & montage skills.
  • Manage bookings and lending system
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and research skills.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of a makerspace operation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Consistent with deadlines.
Creative Industry Admin (Paid Internship)
  • PC and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and research skills.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of a makerspace operation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Language requirements: Excellent written and oral English-language skills will be required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Consistent with deadlines.
  • Understanding of social media and web analytics will be considered an advantage.

 

Objectives

Visual Documentation/Media Administration – Photo & Video (Paid Internship)

The successful candidate will be assisting the Thinker Maker Space team to create photo and video content for the website and different social media platforms, to document the daily activities happening within the space, as well as to assist at the Media Desk photographic studio.

Creative Industry Admin (Paid Internship)

The successful candidate will be assisting the Thinker Makers Space team to the day-to-day operations such as:

  • Handling admin tasks related to the Work in Progress Arts & Technology Festival (WIP2023)
  • Review and process expenses on a report-based format
  • Filing and listing of service agreements
  • Communication and coordination with volunteers
  • Updating the Reporting sheets
  • Screen appropriately and professionally telephone calls, enquiries and requests, as well as manage incoming and outgoing communication when needed
  • Ensure that TMS premises are in lean condition.
