As a Cost Accounting Manager, you will be a key member of our Finance team ensuring all inventory controls and procedures are followed in accordance with GAAP, and accounting modules of the manufacturing system are up to date and functioning properly. You will also review and approve monthly financial results as they relate to cost of sales, manufacturing and distribution, coordinate annual review and update of product standard costs as well as annual physical inventory. You will also maintain transfer prices for inventory sold between subsidiary markets, and lead ERP cost modules (manufacturing, supply chain) implementation from Finance. This position is located in Alameda and is not remote.
What You’ll Work On
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Recruit, develop, evaluate and manage Cost Accounting staff.
- Participate in the quarter-end and year-end audit and prepare supporting documents for auditor review.
- Work with Operations to review inventory to ensure appropriate reserve, usage adjustment, and timely disposition.
- Work with Operations to review Supplier Liability to ensure appropriate reserve.
- Collaborate with the team to resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Complete month end journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and analyzing variances.
- Complete Financial Statement analysis, including Balance Sheet & Income Statement.
- Review SOX controls and process documents to ensure adherence of internal controls and ensure process integrity within Cost/Inventory and work with team members to resolve process issues and implement process improvements.
- Review Standard Cost on a quarterly basis and work closely with Operations to justify standard cost changes and provide impact analysis for review and approval.
- Partner with the Operations team on inventory costing processes and inputs.
- Maintain the accuracy of inventory costs and ensure that all inventory reporting requirements are satisfied.
- Review and monitor all transactions involving inventory to ensure the perpetual inventory records are maintained.
- Review reconciliation inventory in all locations to reports or physical counts.
- Perform analysis of margin and inventory reports.
- Review standard costs and update periodically.
- Assist Finance team with other duties as requested.
What You Contribute
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience within the manufacturing or life sciences industries preferred
- Requires strong understanding of inventory accounting theory, strong financial analysis skills and an ability to problem solve and make relevant recommendations
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team are required.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs with advanced skills in Excel
Working Conditions
General office environment. Business travel from 0% – 5%. Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and to use a computer, sitting for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Annual Base Salary Range: $133,400 – $165,231 / year
